Hi loves! I have fallen in love with these wood gallery wall ledges that you can purchase on just about any home retail store. I was looking at the prices and they are expensive! So, I thought I can make these pretty easily. I have the supplies all I need to do is stop by Lowes or Home Depot and get some wood. So that’s what I did. I made (6) 4ft long wood wall gallery ledges and (2) 3 ft wood gallery ledges for under $10 each! I thought this was such a steal I wanted to share with you the Easy Steps to Make Your Own Wood Gallery Ledge Shelf. Here is how I did it:
P.S Be sure to check out the free printables at the bottom of the article. 🙂
Wood Gallery Wall Ledge Supply List:
- (8) 3.5in. wide x 8ft long (1/2 to3/4 in. thick) wood planks. These will make the back and base of the ledge shelf.
- (4) 2.5in. wide x 8ft long (1/2 in thick) wood planks
- finishing nails
- wood glue
- screws
- wood stain
- table saw (optional – you can have Lowes/Home Depot cut these boards to the size you need)
- Nail gun (optional – you can use nails and hammer in place of a nail gun)
- clamp ( at least one)
Step by Step Directions – Wood Gallery Shelves
- Cut 6 of the 8 (3.5in x 8ft) into 12, 4ft planks
- Then cut the last 2 (3.5in x 8ft) into 4, 3ft planks
- Cut 3 of the (2.5in x 8ft) into 6, 4ft planks
- Then cut the last (2.5in x 8ft) into 2, 3ft planks
Follow picture diagram for assembly directions:
- stain and let dry
- hang to your wall. I used screws and a stud finder. When you find the stud mark it and drill a hole followed by a screw into the wood shelf and wall stud. I placed 3 screws in each shelf. If you can’t locate a stud use wall anchors to attach the wood shelf to your wall to provide the extra support.
