Bird House Project for Kids: easy and gives them free rein to decorate

Bird House Project for Kids. Something to give them free rein to decorate.

Hello friends! If you are looking for crafts for the kid(s) you have come to the right spot! This bird house project for kids is a great way to keep them busy on a project that can be used around the home.

Why a Birdhouse?

My daughter opted to paint this bird house while I was working on the DIY hanging pictures project (link: Here). Her only being 6, I found this was a great project for her independence and confidence. She was over joyed she was able to contribute and complete her own project for our home. She did everything from picking the birdhouse and the colors she wanted to use. I only helped get her set up. As a mom I noticed it’s good to be able to give her free rein over her own projects from time to time. Kids infrequently get the chance to call the shots, so I try to give her those opportunities when I can, and this bird house project is perfect just for that.

We worked at our kitchen table together completing our home projects. Sometimes working on different projects still manages to get that needed bonding time and creating those happy family memories. 🙂

I created a list on amazon so you can shop in one place and from the comfort of your home. The list is linked below. I’m not going to include any directions for this bird house project as it’s one of those where you just let them be little and decorate however their heart desires.

Birdhouse Project List

Birdhouses are made for particular birds based on the size whole of the opening. In the area we live we do have tiny birds that could use this. So, it will be fun to see what comes in and nests in this house! You don’t have to use your birdhouse for the outdoors. It can also be used as an indoor decoration. It’s up to you and your littles! I included two birdhouses in my list for your shopping convenience.

Quick Note:

If you have been following my projects you might already have some of these supplies but the last thing you will need is the paint brushes which for younger kids I recommend getting the sponge brushes in a multi pack of 4 or more ( especially if you have a kid that loves crafts as much as mine!)

If you want you can get paint brushes, with different sized brush heads that can provide more decorative detail. A variety pack can be found here: https://amzn.to/2xj47l4

When we get this bird house put up outside I will be sure to post an update! Enjoy and stay tuned!
