1) I’ve been sick…for about thirteen days!
2) I finally went to the doctor. His name is Dr. Gross. I refer to him as Dr Oh So Not Gross.
3) Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon. I think the last time I was this sick was with the Home Depot Funk. I believe that if you search the archives, you can probably read about it. That’s kind of scary!
4) When I’ve got a cold, I like to drink peach herbal tea. It’s really good with honey. It’s especially good with a big shot of Peachtree Schnapps in it. It’s a shame I can’t drink it like that at work. Maybe then I wouldn’t cough!
5) I am a news junkie. My daughter is named after a news story. Ok, so it’s a news baby. Baylee Almon, the baby who was on all the magazine covers, being carried out after the Oklahoma City bombings. I really feel like her name has meaning.
6) Today I wish I were not a news junkie. I wish I never watched the news. I wish I had not sat there feeling jubulant with all those family members in West Virginia last night. If I were not a news junkie, I would not have been up at midnight clicking on Fox News Links. I would not have felt like the world came crashing down this morning when my hubby broke the news to me that the miners had not all survived, in fact only one miner had survived.
7) If I were not a news junkie, I would not have the overwhelming urge to go check the news and see what is happening with Ariel Sharon, and if he’s succumbed to the stroke that he suffered today (and yes, now my secret has been given away….I’m working on my Thursday Thirteen on Wednesday night….because I know perfectly well that I would never finish it before I went to work, and then I’d miss another week!).
8) As of 10:25 pm Wednesday night, Sharon is hanging in there. And there are no new horrible news stories.
9) It’s all my son Nick’s fault that I bought three new books on Amazon.com tonight. If he hadn’t needed that X-box game, I never would have been at Amazon.com and would have saved like 50 bucks. Again, it’s all Nick’s fault.
10) I started a new job 2 and a half weeks ago. It’s in an office, working for a furniture wholesaler. I have a desk…a chair….my own computer that has internet access….I get to SIT DOWN at work! I’ve worked retail since I was 17, and sitting down is a very big deal to me. An even bigger deal is the hours….Monday thru Friday, 8:30 to 5:00. No nights, no weekends!
11) Since I started my new job, I haven’t had a restful weekend….I had Christmas (with the flu), and on New Years weekend, we went to Daytona. We stayed in a hotel, it was oceanfront and really beautiful, but you know how when you’re not at home, you just don’t really rest?
12) This weekend, we’re staying home. I am going to have Ben dig up this giant bed of weeds for me (I’m sorry, but it’s just too big to pull all those things…it would probably make me cough…isn’t that why us women get married, so that men can dig up weeds for us??!). I’m going to plant flowers. I swear, once the flowers are planted, I’ll take full responsibility for weeding…I actually like weeding, I find it relaxing. I’m also planning on planting something in the area under my bedroom window….I was thinking Night Blooming Jasmine. What do y’all think?
13) Last but not least….I love my life these days! Good job, loving family, cool blog friends…I am truly blessed. I’m going to try harder to remember just how very lucky I am.

As to watching the news…I found the older I get, the less likely I am to watch the news. It’s all about ratings and they don’t really care what they regurgitate, as long as the ratings are up. My 2 cents ;-)

never heard about the Thursday 13…Friday Five yes,…I don’t get all hyped at the news, I feel, yes, but my feelings don’t keep me awake at night – I figure my life is complicated enough…
I’ve had a desk job for 6 years and love it, although, beware of the spreading “buttocks” syndrome! lol!
