The first day of the Michael King trial
Well, today was the first day of the Michael King trial for the murder of Denise Amber Lee. I thought I was prepared for it, but as I watched and listened, I realized just how wrong I was. I was on the verge of tears many times, especially when listening to the opening statement, the quotes from Denise’s 911 call, and the testimony from Shawn Johnson. Shawn apparently heard Denise screaming from King’s car, on 41 in North Port. He thought it might be a prank and didn’t call the police until later in the evening, when he heard about Denise missing. Yet another opportunity to save Denise was lost. It just broke my heart all over again. I keep thinking I’m getting to where I can handle hearing about this, and hear it without getting emotional. Not even close. :(
There’s a ton of articles out there, I think rather than picking one to post, I’ll simply post the links to what I’ve seen. And as you probably can see, I’m keeping the video link to the live feed to the trial at the top of my blog for now. I actually think it provides better coverage than TruTv does…no commercials, no other stories.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Lee and Goff families (and their close friends, many who have traveled a long way to be here to support them in this hard time)…Nate, Rick, Sue, Peggy, Mark, Brian, Amanda, Tyler, Sean, Alecia…love and hugs to all of you. May this all be over soon and justice be served for Denise.

Sounds like tomorrow is going to be an extremely difficult day with the playing of Denise’s 911 call. I feel for the family.
Tracie, can you watch the live feed from Australia?
I am watching what I can. My husband tells me that I cannot keep watching it. So I have to act like it doesn’t bother me and I just need to watch. I guess he knows me better.
I hope there is some warning before they play the 911 call because I cannot listen to it. huge hugs and prayers to all of Denise’s family and friends. Your community is behind you forever and always.
Jeanine, if I can get this time difference right, I’ll be able to watch it. I think we are 10 hours ahead which means if court starts at 10am (?) it will be 8pm here. I will try it tonight. However, I have been watching updates which I have found very difficult to view. I stupidly watched Denise’s 911 call. Am lost for words.
On second thoughts, we are actually 14hrs ahead. I don’t know if I really want to be watching this live, by myself in the middle of the night. I almost feel guilty for saying that as I have a choice to listen, Denise’s family don’t.
