People just helping themselves to the mail….even AT the post office distribution center!
I saw this today on MySpace and it just filled me with disgust. The person who posted it runs a page for the City of North Port, so I know it’s legit.

Post Office ScamSomeone at the post office sliced open my son’s christmas card with a razor knife, stole the 2 Walmart gift cards out of it, and taped it back up. The North Port Post Office said that I was the 3rd complaint for the same issue in the past 2 days.
I tracked the cards by the receipt my brother has and found out that they were both used at the Palmetto Walmart @ 7:45AM and 7:46AM. on Dec. 28th. Which leads me to believe that the postal worker works the over night shift at the main center on the Manatee County line which is the distribution point to North Port. That said person gets off at 7AM and rushed to Walmart to use my sons cards and numerous others he stole.
I called Walmart and they said they can pull up the video from the register when I file charges at the Palmetto Police Dept.
When I called the Postal Investigation Services they just took down my information and gave me a confirmation number and said someone will get back to me.
I want someone fired and charged with a felony!
Has anyone else had any issues with missing gift cards this holiday season?
I mean, that’s just pathetic. It’s weird, I read an editorial recently on the Charlotte Sun and someone was saying that gift cards she had mailed out had been stolen from her mailbox. I know times are tough, but come on! How could a person steal what was to be someone’s Christmas gift and live with themselves? Perhaps they felt they needed it more….but it’s someone’s Christmas gift! And to have it stolen from the actual post office is even worse. Those people are making decent money, they’re government employess….we are supposed to be able to trust them.
I just hope that someone from the post office actually contacts this person, and that the person who did this pays for their crime. It’s just not right.
I know I have some local readers out there…if you’ve run into this, or know someone who has, please take the time to leave a comment, and I’ll pass it on. Thanks.

How can a person do that and live with themselves????
I believe in Karma what goes around comes around….
I hope the culprit{S} are caught soon.
it can be a very sad world we live in!

Nothing surprises me anymore!
Amazing. I wouldn’t have believed it.
This also happened to me. I sent gift cards to my family in AZ. Didn’t register the cards as they were gifts and require email and password, etc. online. They got a large envelope with a letter stating the letter was damaged in transit and an apology. The original looked like it had been opened with a razor. We are in Denver so doubtful it was the same guy but still. Post office gave me the same run around and I got a letter stating there was nothing they could do.
I just received a box from Japan with silk material. The box was damaged and in Memphis at the distribution center they repacked it .Guess what Out of the ten pieces only four were left, the most expensive pieces disapeared. I had not insured,it cost 74dollars already .Besides one should not have to take out insurance for the mail to be delivered
