Music and memories
It’s funny how a certain song will generate memories. Hubby is of course on a total downloading spree since we got DSL (I’m sorta amazed that I got any sleep at all last night!). One of the songs that he downloaded was Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. The first time I remember seeing Nirvana…and Kurt Cobain….was watching Saturday Night Live. I’m pretty sure I was pregnant. With Nick (he’ll be 13 on Sunday!). And I can remember waking Ben up, just freaking out, saying, “They’re PAYING these people?!!?” I don’t know if anyone out there remembers this show…Kurt Cobain was clearly trashed. I just couldn’t believe it. And yet, by the time that he died, the group and their music had started growing on me. But…I’ll never hear that song without thinking back to that day, extremely pregnant, (I just looked it up, and yes, my memory serves me correctly on this!), watching and listening to this song.

Tammy….I just wrote you a very very long comment here — and then decided there wasn’t any reason those thoughts couldn’t be posted at my blog …so, if you don’t mind …I have left a “note” for you there:)
Ok, now for a “real” comment… yes, I do understand about certain songs generating memories. I just did an entry a couple days ago on just that. “Touch of the Master’s Hand” –.
Hey — I have a 13 year old too. Isn’t it a wonderful age? :) course, I have 4 older kids — ages 28 to 22, so we have “been there and done that”…but, still, we don’t seem to get any wiser…
Carolyn,
You have just made my day!
