Hi ok so I am SUPER late with this response lol sorry bout that but I was just on youtube and I came across a video of celebrities reading her poem and I started t google her and her story. At the time this happened I was 17 years old and a freshman in college as a criminal justice major. I remember talking about her but I do not remember much! I will I do agree with the comments and posts that Brian Rooney is disgusting and has no respect from a criminal justice mind I kind of find it unlikely the killed her. I am not saying that it is impossible for him to kill but it kind goes back in part to what your friend Trish said and to what my studies have shown. Every offended no matter how small or how heinous the crime has a MO. Murder does not seem to be in Mr. Rooney’s MO. I read something that said that she had used Rooney’s phone to call an acquaintance. Yes Rooney was the last one to see her according to the camera but I wonder who was this acquaintance and did she have plans on meeting him or her. What rock solid proof do they have on Rooney? I did plead innocent and still didn’t change his answer after her was convicted! AGAIN I am NOT saying that he did not do it or could not do it I am merely stating from the point of view as a criminal just major that Rooney may not be the only person they wanted to investigate!

Anyone who has the ability to rape someone – a complete stranger at that – has no respect for human life. It does not shock me at all that he would be capable of murder. Besides, serial rapists (and the fact that he’s raped more than once would classify him as such) often escalate their violence toward their victims and start murdering them. He clearly did this.

still no luck with the mace. but luckily, i have great friends who don’t let me walk alone, even at dusk. lol. it’s just striking how many women in burlington i’ve heard voice that “wow, that could of been me that night.” myself included. let’s just hope they have the right guy.

No where is as safe as it use to be. My little town here in Colorado has had stuff happen. We were never careful as teens; times change. Very sad. I do hope it’s this guy, one less freak on the streets.

Your friend Trish thinks that the suspect, Brian Rooney is capable of rape but not murder. Maybe her death was not premeditated. Perhaps he killed her accidentally while raping her and then dumped her body because he got scared.

Great post. Burlington is such a beautiful town – sorry to see that it is having to go through this. Makes small town America seem corrupted.
