Marcus Freeman
When our car first decided that it didn’t care for Vermont and died, I was upset. The thought of walking or taking the bus everywhere was not my idea of fun. But today, I’m sort of glad that we no longer drive in this household. Because if I don’t have a car to drive, neither do my kids.
Sarasota County, Florida, has lost 5 teenagers to vehicle accidents in the last week. This time, the accident involved a teen, Marcus Freeman, from North Port. He was a football player, playing for the Bobcats. It sounds like he had a wonderful future ahead of him. My kids didn’t know him, but it appears that a lot of their friends did. I suspect it’s a very somber day at North Port High today.
Please, kids, slow down. Take it easy behind the wheel. As you can see, your life can be taken away in the blink of an eye. And parents….hold your kids close, tell them you love them. You never know when you might not get the chance again. And to all the teens in North Port who lost a friend yesterday…stay strong.
RIP, Marcus.
