It frustrates me that this story seems to be getting buried. I had to sorta look for it, just to find a story that doesn’t seem to be terribly updated.
HOMOSASSA, Fla. — WheneverJessica Marie Lunsford (search) went out to play, her father and grandparents trusted her to come home when she was supposed to. But now she’s missing, vanished from her bedroom during the night, and her father fears she has been kidnapped.
More can be found at Fox News, but expect to have to hunt around. How the story of a killer from 30 years ago can knock a currently missing 9 year old child off the front of the headlines is beyond me. I understand that the BKT guy killed a bunch of people…..but it was a long time ago, and right now a little girl is missing, God knows where. Maybe it’s because she’s the same age as Baylee, but this really just gets to me.
And yes, I know….I forgot to go lie down!

I know. I saw the press conf. with the grandparents the other day and it was heart wrenching. Then the next day I checked the Amber alert website and she was not listed. I have a 9 year old so this really hit home for me as well. How could she just disappear from her bed?? It gives me the chills…
Hi Tammy! Michele sent me…
This is strange indeed. I’ve sure been hearing about it on the radio & tv though…

I’ve actualy heard a fair bit of consistent press coverage via my online feeds of news radios. About every news break had some mention of it. However I dunno about other media outlets. But all the parents I know tell me that you don’t cringe at these kind of horrific stories untill you become a parent. Hope they find this little one, we had a small girl vanish here in Toronto Canada over a year ago from her bedroom, it was not a happy ending…
cheers.

Hi Tammy. Here in Ohio we have been updated on this tragedy a lot, perhaps because the child’s natural mother is in the state. This story is so disturbing, so heinous. The child was in her bed! As parents you do everything in your power to keep your children safe, the thought and nature of this is almost too much to comprehend. And what are we left to do? It is all just too sad.
This is such an awful story. I hope they find her. Soon.
Hey, Tammy, Michele sent me.
USA Today online has actually done a better job of keeping the story front page: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2005-02-25-girl_x.htm
I couldn’t agree more. It seems, though, that now that the Braves’ pitcher has offered reward money, more press is trickling out there. Day four…that’s never a good thing. :-(
Michele sent me…sorry you have to work today!
You’re right. Focusing on doing a problem that could help someone today would be the responsible thing for the networks to do. Unfortunately, they’re nearly completely driven by ratings.
Michele sent me! Your site looks really cute.
