Fundraiser for Alex Teehee’s boys

by Tammy on February 27, 2009

The family of Alex Teehee is holding a fundraiser sidewalk sale this weekend to benefit Alex’s two young boys, Kaden and Eli. If you’re a local and can, please stop by and help out. It’s being held at the Peace River Medical Center in North Port (at the corner of Sumter and 41).

Here’s a pic of the boys taken at the Denise Amber Lee tribute in January. They’re just beautiful, aren’t they?

Story from the Charlotte Sun below.

A sidewalk sale is planned Saturday for Kaden and Eli, the two young sons of Alex Teehee, who was killed in a wreck last summer.

Teehee’s sister, Jana Thompson, is organizing the benefit for her nephews, Kaden, 3, and Eli, 2, who are now cared for by their grandmother, Carol Teehee.

The sale is planned from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at Peace River Medical Center (near the Wendy’s parking lot, off Sumter Boulevard) in North Port.

Alex Teehee was killed in a hit-and-run wreck last year in Port Charlotte. His family has offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those involved.

Now Thompson is collecting donated items for the sale. She has been getting cooperation from Holiday Park residents who want to help.

“We have received all kinds of good things to sell, from furniture, toys, electronics and household knick-knacks,” she said. “I will collect items today too if someone wants to call me to pick them up.”

Thompson said she understands the economy is tough right now. The fundraiser is to help the two boys with their future education expenses.

“My brother was only 20 when he died,” she said. “His boys are so young.. We are doing this to help them. We have a few more fundraisers planned.”

For more information on the fundraiser, or to arrange for a pickup, call Thompson at 941-626-6168.

Anyone with information can call 866-968-ALEX. Anonymous tips may be left at the Crime Stoppers tip line at 941-366-8477.

How awful that is. Over here, a hit and run might not get imprisoned for long.

Jana, I’m a lifelong friend of your mother’s. I had NO idea such a horrific tragedy had struck your family. I had no clue until I put your mother’s name in for a search. I’ve been looking for her for years! I saw Jay, your uncle, at my mom’s funeral. Please pass on my condolences to the rest of your family, especially your mom. My name is Gayenell, she’ll know me by first name. God Bless
