A nice hurricane! It’s about time. :)

Franklin moving north near Bahamas

FORT MYERS — Tropical Storm Franklin is moving in the northwestern part of the Bahamas, and it’s expected to stay out at sea. The National Hurricane Center in Miami says a tropical storm warning remains in effect for the northwestern Bahamas.

At 5 p.m., Franklin centered at 27.8N 76.7W, with sustained winds of 50 mph. That position is over 300 miles east of Ft. Myers.

Franklin is moving north at 9 mph.

Forecasters say they expect Franklin to keep moving parallel to the Florida east coast.

If the system moves as forecast, it appears it will have no effect on the weather over the Florida Peninsula.

Another area of storms in the northwest Caribbean is being watched for any development. Because much of the broad area of circulation is over land, development would be slow.

But some computer models show that a tropical low could form just east of the

Yucatan Peninsula today and move to the west-northwest, eventually getting into the Southwest Gulf of Mexico.

While strong winds from that system aren’t likely, it could soak an area already reeling from the wind and rain of Emily.

There is no other tropical activity in the Atlantic Basin.

And I’m feeling a good bit better…thanks to all who gave me my ”poor me”‘s! :) It seems to have helped.
