It’s been a really long time since I did a regular, old fashion, family blog post. I thought it was probably time. I just realized that I’ve been blogging now for over 5 years…yes, I managed to miss my own 5 year blogiversary (is that a WORD?!). When I started blogging, Nick was 12, Lindsay was 10, and Baylee 8. They’re now 18 (OMG!), 16 and almost 15. Where has the time gone?
Nick is now a senior in high school. No one told me that being a senior was so complicated! All this college stuff….FAFSAs, SATs, financial aid. I’m basically lost. I didn’t go to college, so I’m really clueless. But hopefully I’ll figure it all out before he graduates (in 47 days, he informed me today). He’s changed so much since I started to blog. It used to be all NASCAR, now it’s baseball, football, and photography. Journalism. And he’s GOOD at it. Yes, I’m a proud mama. :)
Lindsay is doing great. She was so worried about starting high school this year, sure that she would hate it. Turns out she loves high school, and is really happy. She actually said today that she’s not looking forward to summer, that she LIKES going to school. Pretty cool. She’s really growing up, too. She loves to cook, and does almost all of it around here these days. I’m becoming spoiled.
Baylee…she’s just Baylee. Almost 15, and a handful. She’s going to be a heartbreaker (already is, I fear). She hasn’t gotten to where Nick and Lindsay are as far as her future, she’s still trying to figure it out. I think she should do something with kids. She’s good with kids, and they love her. A teacher, maybe?
Ben is hanging in. Still hasn’t found a job. The job situation here in SW Florida is downright scary. I thought Obama was supposed to bring about all that hope and change and things were going to be peachy keen. Yeah, right! Things have gone about as I thought they would there. But hey, things will get better sooner or later. In the meantime, he’s hanging in, and we’re making it. Kind of.
And me….same old, same old. Been at my job now for a bit over 4 years, working for a furniture wholesaler. I love the job, and I love the people I work with. I’m truly blessed as far as that goes. And I continue to find some blog design stuff on the side, which helps. I keep busy. Almost too busy, it seems sometimes.
So there ya go…a real live UPDATE. Maybe tomorrow I can manage to get an updated picture of the kids up….I think everyone would be surprised at how much they’ve changed since I first started blogging.
