Some of y’all know that we’ve been in the process of selling our house…it’s been a bit on the stressful side for me, and occupying alot of my mind (I’m a closet worry-er). The house sold very quickly, we’ve survived the home inspection, and the appraisal was Friday. All has gone smoothly. Now we’re just waiting for a closing date, which should be sometime this month. I’m really hoping that they tell me this SOON, it’ll be one less thing to worry about.
The really interesting part is, that we had not completely decided what we were going to do after the house was sold. We’ll be coming out of this quite a bit ahead, as the market is really strong here. We seriously considered the idea of relocating, maybe to Alabama or Mississippi. But, what with Katrina, we’re a bit worried about what the housing market would be like there now. Plus, we both have decent jobs here. So, I began to look at the ads around here. We’ve decided to rent for a year at least, and think about what to do. The kids are getting older and such….
We found the PERFECT house! It’s a rental, it’s reasonably priced, it has a new roof (courtesy to Hurricane Charley). It’s on the older side, but it’s a good bit bigger than the house we’re in now. AND…it’s on a canal! Waterfront property! Ben will be able to walk out into his backyard and go fishing. This is the guy who used to almost run off the road every time he passed water….he went fishing with me on our second date…it’s perfect!
And I’d have a picture of it for you….but someone took the camera (after waiting all day for the batteries to charge) without the memory card………
Maybe tomorrow…….

we sold our house a few weeks ago. it sold immediately but the lead up was so stressful. i completely hear ya on that. we do know where we’re going though. we sold because we are building.
the place you’ve described sounds lovely. a nice place to sit and think about what is next for you all.
Good luck on finding your house :)
here via michele’s!
So, were are you moving too? I love my New England area. Thanks for stop by my blog. I posted a resonds saying that I do not live in Vermont but have a summer home there on that lake that I have in my blog headline. I have family in Williston and Burlington.
Michele sent me your way, Tammy.
I suspect your timing will be perfect, Tammy. Sell at the peak of the market and as soon as interest rates jump–which high energy costs will probably cause–and the real estate market will tank at which time you’ll be able to pick up a great house for a song. I sure wish I was in your position! Good luck with the closing, Tammy.
Sending you Good Luck wishes on your House closeing, I know your stress, been there. LOL I also know how you feel on the decission making of where to go from there. We are trying to decide that for ourselves. Katrina has made a big difference on things huh? that #@%#@ lol
Take care and Good Luck!
does the canal empty out or is it a closed one? people we know bought site unseen and were told it was on a canal. surprise, no boat access out of the darned thing! LOL
